The Canon Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw is an all in one printer that is a bit clunky in my opinion and has many shortcomings. If you can get it set up right, it works with basic functions.
turn on the printer, do not plug the usb cable into your pc yet
go to the below link and install the driver for windows 64 bit on your pc [Windows 64bit] imageCLASS MF8280Cw MFDrivers (UFR II / FAX / ScanGear)
this will install the drivers necessary for printing and scanning
once installed, reboot, log back in
go back to that site and choose the "software" tab
look for [Windows 32bit & 64bit] Tool Box Ver.4.9.1.1.mf18 and download and install it
this is the software necessary to allow for scanning directly to your PC to work properly
reboot again
turn the printer on
plug the USB cable into the printer and then into your PC
the printer should show up automatically under "printers"
to scan, just click the scan button on the printer and click the button for scan and store
the default is to store the scans in pdf format in a new folder names the current date in your pictures folder
to print, just print to the new "non fax" canon printer that is now in your list of printers in windows 10
During my tests, using 1200 dpi when printing did not work. There was data corruption towards the end of the printout. This may be that I was using an old USB cable that did not support the speed required for 1200 dpi printouts.
Solution: keep it at 600 dpi, that's good enough
